How to make money from Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing can be a great source of income for those who want to have that extra source of income and are well acquainted with the usage of web and its intricacies. Affiliate Marketing is essentially a performance based marketing structure wherein the affiliates are paid commission by the business for every lead or sale the affiliates drive to the business’ website.

There are 3 major types of commission payments in general:

  1. Cost Per Sale (CPA) – In CPA, the affiliate is paid by the business if the affiliate is successful in driving visitors to the business’ website wherein the visitor purchases the goods or services offered by the business. This is also called cost per acquisition.
  2. Cost Per Lead (CPL) – The affiliate refers a visitor, who then fills a form on the business’ website and the affiliate is paid for every lead thus generated. This is called cost per lead (CPL).
  3. Cost Per Click (CPC) – A visitor to the Affiliates web site clicks on the advertisement or banner  by the business and lands on its website and the affiliate is paid for every visitor thus sent. This payment system is called – cost per click (CPC).

Some Points to Remember –

  1. Add Relevant Content: You cannot invariably guide your loyal readers to buy a cookery book from an article/ page speaks about MBA! Its got to be relevant and the flow must not break.
  2. Yes, you’re an Affiliate : And there is nothing to hide about it or manipulate it. Be true to your readers. In today’s world, visitors are too intelligent to understand these stuffs and you can prove to be quite nasty by manipulating the same.
  3. Do Not Sell a Car if you do not know to Drive: Sell only the products or services that you yourself is very clear with. For example: Do not try to sell a technical product if you yourself is technically challenged. You cannot necessarily guide your visitors through and refer a product or service which you are unable to make head or tail.
  4. Last but not the least Be Patient and keep waiting or the fish to come to the bait.
